Our Ontario PC team is taking another major step toward connecting every person in Ontario to a family doctor or primary care team by 2029.
Ontario is investing $250 million to create and expand approximately 78 primary care teams, helping connect 600,000 more people to the primary care they need, closer to home.
It’s the next step in our $3.4 billion Primary Care Action Plan to make it easier for people across the province to access a family doctor and high-quality primary care.
Since 2025, two previous rounds of funding have resulted in 199 successful applicants that are connecting 800,000 more people to primary care. Today, nearly 90 per cent of people in Ontario are connected to a primary care provider.
And we’re continuing to build on that progress.
Our plan will add or expand more than 300 primary care teams across the province while continuing to grow Ontario’s health-care workforce. Since 2018, more than 20,000 physicians have been added to Ontario’s health-care workforce, including a more than 14 per cent increase in family doctors.
While others talk about fixing health care, our Ontario PC team is making the investments and doing the work to deliver more doctors, more primary care teams and better access to care in communities across the province.
